“New Day Pharmacy is definitely an improvement over what our previous facility had. In fact, it is a definite improvement from any LTC pharmacy I have worked with. I would recommend NDP to any LTC facility. In the beginning, as with anything with nurses, we didn’t want to change to a new pharmacy. We are definitely glad we did change and would not give them up. I get great comments from nurses on how much time they save using this system to pass medications. I personally get anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes in time savings. I feel that the medication pass is so much safer now for the nurse and the resident. I love having the narcotics in the Med Select. It’s great having meds for new orders and admits at our fingertips. There are so many check and balance systems that it is almost impossible to make a med error. The families and residents love the in-house pharmacy so they can get their medications immediately. With the previous pharmacy, they would sometimes wait one to three days to receive their medications. The New Day staff is great. They always return phone calls promptly, and if they don’t know the answer to a question, they always find someone who can. Our medical director likes the drug regimen review that Chad does and finds it very helpful. Misty and Dan, along with the other pharmacy personnel, are great. Even if they are called at night, they are always helpful and pleasant. Like I said, I would highly recommend New Day Pharmacy.”

“New Day Pharmacy’s services are a great improvement over our previous pharmacy. They provide a much safer medication pass due to the multiple check systems, including resident pictures on MARs, pictures of medications on MARs, and the scanning system for drugs through the Med Select. I feel much safer passing safer passing meds with the new system. To make a med pass error, it would almost have to be intentional with the great system. When I worked as a staff nurse and used the strips supplied by New Day, it definitely decreased my med pass time by at least 20 minutes. I also feel that using the med strips cuts down on med errors since it has the patient’s name, date, medication, dosage, and time printed on each section of the strip. I love it! I also like being able to communicate with the pharmacy and IT with dedicated phone lines from the Med Select. The messaging system is great. We don’t have to wait hours to get meds approved or questions asked. Many residents and family members have commented on how great it is to get the meds immediately instead of having to sometimes wait days to receive them. Everyone at NDP is polite, considerate and helpful. No matter how busy they are, they always take time to answer our questions or get answers for us. I think they have the best IT’s, pharmacists, and consultants working for them.”

“The med strips make the med pass at least 25 percent faster. They are a lifesaver in more ways than one. We all love Facility Link, especially the messaging center. It saves a lot of time. Good communication with the pharmacy is very important since we spend a lot of time dealing with medications in the nursing home. We can also look up medications, diagnoses, allergies, etc. immediately instead of trying to locate a book. New admissions and new orders are not a hassle anymore with NDP because we have the meds 95 percent available immediately. We used to have to wait sometimes days to get medications. We used to get complaints from families and residents because they had to wait to get new meds. Not anymore. We have not had any complaints since we started with New Day Pharmacy. When you need to find the cost of a medication for a family member or Medicare, it is right at your fingertips. It’s also wonderful having our own in-house pharmacy and administering new medications within minutes. We love being able to print a MAR, TAR or demographics when needed without having to write all that information. The new med carts are much easier on the back because they are about half the size of our previous carts. I wouldn’t want to go back to our old pharmacy.
